I finally managed to figure out what the insert key is on my macbook pro. I missed it a lot because in Resharper the standard command to generate code is Alt+Ins. This key combination seems to be engraved in my brain because it was really hard for me to use it with a different key combination. Anyway the winning combinations are:
Insert: fn+return
Alt+Insert: fn + alt/option + return

you are obviously doing win dev on your macbook – are you using parallels? I am buying a macbook pro this sunday – and I have been a win developer for 15yrs but I like doing mac dev as well – any recommendations on what I should have on the macbook pro beside 4gb ram?
cool layout on the blog by the way…

Hi,
I got a macbook pro earlier this year. I’ve been on windows for as long as I can remember and it is my bread and butter. I develop a lot of stuff with .NET and for that I use visual studio
I use vmware fusion 2 beta on my machine because it’s the fastest one around and it has support for dual monitors also in unity mode.
I’ve got it setup so that I can use windows vista 32-bit ( I use vista because it has IIS 7) through my boot camp partition or through vmware fusion. I had a lot of problems with parallels since SP 1 got released and switched to fusion 2 then.
Other recommendations would be get at least a 24″ monitor to hook up to your laptop.
I’m pretty much a plain vanilla kind of guy unless I think it is really really worth it so my setup is pretty simple

Yea, .net is my bread and butter as well… I currently code on an alienware but the wife wants a new laptop soooo….
Did you buy vmware fusion apart from the macbook pro?
Thanks for the info… best of luck

Hi; VMware Fusion is separate, only iLife is bundled with new machines.
It’s more than worth it though. As a 1.x user I get a free 2.x license, and the current beta’s which you can download and use your key on bring Fusion up to parity with the features most people desire in their Workstation product. Their support isn’t as steep as Parallels’ and I find it to be more stable and better integrated with the host environment and a wider array of guest operating systems. Performance is at least on-par.

The “INSERT key’ on MacBook Pro = fn home, (the left arrow on your right side). It is mainly helpful for MAYA users!
Good luck!
La clé “INSERT” sur le MacBook Pro = fn home, (la flèche de gauche à ta droite). C’est surtout utile pour les utilisateurs de MAYA!
Bonne chance:)
